Interreg VB NWE is a European Territorial Cooperation programme with the goal to make the North-West Europe area a key economic player and an attractive place to live and work. Main goals are a high levels of innovation, sustainability and cohesion.
Interreg NWE is one of the tools to carry out the European Cohesion Policy effectively. Its ambition is to reduce differences between the various regions in North-West Europe. The EU’s most recent accord, the Lisbon Treaty, includes an additional aspect to cohesion, referring to ‘economic, social and territorial cohesion’. Cohesion policy should promote more sustainable and more balanced, ‘territorial development’.
Interreg NWE supports cooperation across borders in a large European area. For that, Interreg NWE funds projects with partners from at least 3 different countries with a joint approach to deal with common issues. The aim is to reduce the differences among regions and raise the overall level of performance in the whole area.
